"By the 1960s, Timex watches were handsome and durable, every third watch sold in America was a Timex."

Self-Wind Watch
46660 3271
Self-Wind – Dust Resistant – Water Resistant.
Like new! Probably never worn before. Yes! This is a very clean and very well-preserved timepiece. It is a vintage Timex Self-Wind Calendar wristwatch reference 46660 and dated from 1971.
It is a self-winding watch powered by an original Timex automatic movement pin-lever escapement, caliber M32, sweep second, 38-hour power reserve and 18,000 A/h, date indicator (sets by changing 22-24h).
The movement caliber M32 – A sophisticated excenter self-winding with just one gear stage. An excenter on the rotor arbor moves a lever, which turns a ratchet wheel via two clicks. A planet differential gear on the dial side transmits the sum of automatic winding (small center wheel) and manual winding (peripheral gear) via the two planet wheels to the barrel arbor. So, it implements both different gear ratios and perfect decoupling of both winding sources.
In perfect condition, the original gold textured dial features gold/black hour markers, bold minute/second track, and black matching hands. The date window is located at 3 o’clock and the dial is signed with the Timex name/logo and Self-Wind as well.
Also in excellent condition, this watch is cased in a 34mm cushion case, base metal bezel and stainless-steel back. Water and dust resistant. It comes on a new-old-stock light brown Genuine Leather two-piece strap.
This watch is still a very attractive looking wristwatch, runs very well and keep great time!

Vintage watches are traditionally smaller than today's watches. Men’s watches typically measure between 29-36mm wide (some larger, some smaller) excluding the crown. In the listing details we typically try to do our best to list all pertinent dimensions of a watch. If you don't see it, or we failed to do so, please reach out to us. Women’s watches from the 1900s-1970s were also much smaller than today's offerings. Please also feel free to ask any questions you have pertaining to size.
We prefer to shoot photographs outside when weather is permitting. However, when we shoot indoors, please be aware that we shoot our photographs inside of lightboxes that are lit with 360 LED bulbs. This indeed magnifies any flaws. Usually, they are much less obvious to the naked eye. Having said that, we never photoshop any of our photography, remove blemishes, etc. We adjust lighting when necessary, but what you see is what you are getting, and we take pride in that.
The condition is pre-owned.
The item may have some signs of cosmetic wear but is fully operational and functions as intended.
